The fall semester is starting! Students are either dreading or anticipating the first week of classes. Either way, there are some anxieties that go along with a new semester. Here is your Folsom Lake College guide to the easiest start to the semester.
Parking can be a nightmare. Lines for getting a daily parking pass can be long. Driving around to find a parking spot can take forever. But there are simple solutions! If it makes sense, buy a semesterly parking pass or use public transportation. To find a parking spot, make sure to show up early for the first week (ideally, the first two to three weeks).
The bookstore is always packed the first two weeks of classes. Simple solutions include ordering the books online and picking them up at the online order window and get your books early. If your books are not in by the time you need to use them, ask your professor to see if there is a copy in the library. It they are not sure, you can always double check at the Circulation Desk in the library.
If possible, come to campus early and see where your classes are. Walk around to familiarize yourself with the campus and the journey you will take to get to your classes. Find the library, tutoring centers, and other student services to discover what they have to offer.
There are many activities on all campuses throughout the semester. Falcon’s Day is an event that takes place at all Folsom Lake College sites in the first week of the fall semester. Falcon’s Day is put on by the Associated Students of Folsom Lake College (ASFLC) to welcome students to a new semester. Representatives from ASFLC will be at the Rancho Cordova Center on Monday, August 21, 2017, from 12pm to 1pm; at the main campus on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, from 12pm to 1pm outside of the Falcon’s Roost; and at the El Dorado Center on Thursday, August 24, 2017, from 12pm to 1pm outside of the library and B Building (commonly referred to as the greens). Free food will be handed out at each of these events.
The Office of Student Life would also like to inform students that at the main campus during the second week of classes, there will be businesses outside in the quad for Vendor Week.
