Women Defeat Marin, Men Tie Napa; Season-Ending Home Doubleheader Friday
The FLC soccer teams took to the road on Tuesday, coming back with a win and a tie. The women dominated College of Marin, winning 6-0. Freshman Karina Torres scored two goals, while Alyssa Gallagher, Chayney Mata, Hannah Klinger, and Ciara Modlin each added one goal apiece. Andrea Martinez provided offensive support with three assists and Sami Thomas added two. The Falcons (14-0-1 in BVC, 16-2-2 overall) will now focus on Friday’s final regular season match against Mendocino. The women are looking to complete their third straight undefeated season in the Bay Valley Conference, having gone 12-0-2 in 2013 and 12-0 in 2014.
Meanwhile, the men were in Napa hoping to avenge an earlier tie with the Storm at Falcon Stadium. Napa had other ideas, though, as they scored in the 20th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Midway through the second half, Ian Callender took a pass from Christian Cardoza for a Falcon goal, tying the game at 1-1. The Falcons pushed on, hoping to score a game-winner but could not break the tie. The men will conclude their season on Friday against BVC leader Contra Costa, having lost a close 1-0 match to the Comets in San Pablo on October 20.
