Earlier today, French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Russia's Vladimir Putin and Ukraine's Petro Poroshenko met in Minsk, Belarus to discuss a possible peace treaty in war torn Ukraine. The summit is aimed to halt fighting while peace talks occur.
According to the Ukrainian delegation source, documentation is supposed to be signed recognizing Ukraine's territorial rights and independence. There is additional alleged documentation drawn up by a cooperative group of Russian, Ukrainian and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe validating a prior cease fire from September, which has already been signed by separatist leaders.
The results of this summit are set to influence discussion, particularly sanctions against Russia, at an EU summit in Brussels on Thursday.
We will continue to update you as news from the summit is unveiled.
